2019 Churchside Chardonnay

VQA Prince Edward County 

Sourced entirely from our Churchside estate vineyard. Whole cluster pressed then 100% barrel fermented in 20% new oak, 80% seasoned. 

Ripe peach with hints of apricot, roasted hazelnuts and wet wool open on the nose. Florals, lanolin, and apple crumble lead to a round precise mouth of fruit, barrel, and minerality all woven together. Flint and plush fruit are expressed in the finish, which is long and evolving.

"The nose is a stunning amalgam of cool, white fleshed orchard fruit, especially pear, ripe lemon and custard, still youthful and fresh, while wood influence is minimal. The palate shows a brilliant underpinning of acids on a succulent, mid-weight frame, taut and tight, deceptively concentrated at 12.5% alcohol declared, with more than a nod to limestone and indeed premium Chablis the way Chablis used to be before climate warming."
