The Kocsis Vineyard is arguably the best Chardonnay terroir in Niagara. The 2009 vintage is more citrus and structured with lemon peel, cut green apple with phyllo pastry and a background of vanilla and custard. It has
good weight through the middle palate and a seamless transition to a persistent finish.

“This has a huge, rich nose piled deep with complex crème brulee, honey nougat, butter and smoky notes atop the ripe peachy fruit. It’s full bodied, broad and creamy with firm, lemony acidity at the core, and some heat and bitterness before the brulee rushes back on the finish. The length is excellent. This is a big gun, for drinking over the next three years. Tasted March 2012.” Score: 90 points

“A rich, savoury Chardonnay brimming with fresh orchard fruit and buttery pie crust. Palate boasts crunchy sea salt, dried wild herbs, apricot and fresh, but well-integrated new oak. Creamy lemon custard and tea leaf further add to the complexity of this full-bodied wine. Bright minerality and firm acidity produce a well-structured, balanced whole. Very good length. Tasted March 2012. “ Score: 90 points
